Coteau Lodge is located in the heart of the prairie pothole country in
central North Dakota.
area is famous for its duck production as well as excellent local Canada
goose populations. Our area is also in the middle of the central flyway
so we see excellent numbers of ducks including mallards, pintail,
gadwall, redheads, bluebills, widgeon, geese including all sizes of Canadians, snows and blues plus sandhill
crane and tundra swan on their way south.
Pheasant numbers are
way down in our area and much of North Dakota, with the continued loss
of CRP it will be a slow recovery. Sharptail grouse numbers are down
also with some areas holding decent numbers of birds. Sharptail are best
hunted in September as they get a bit wild as the season progresses.
Coteau lodge has
expanded its service to fishing as well. Guided river and prairie lake
fishing trips are available to book. April and May is great Missouri
River pre-spawn/post spawn walleye fishing. Early summer, the lakes on
the prairie yield tons of walleye for limits daily!
